A teenager has died and two others were injured in a stabbing attack outside a mosque in Smethwick, Birmingham, UK, prompting a murder investigation by West Midlands Police.
Officers were called to a car park on Oldbury Road near Jamia Masjid just before 9 p.m. on Friday, February 20, after reports of disorder. Upon arrival, they found an 18-year-old man with fatal knife wounds. Two other men, aged 19 and 22, were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said early inquiries suggest the incident is not being treated as racially or religiously motivated, and detectives are working to determine the circumstances and identify any suspects. CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
Officials have appealed for witnesses and anyone with mobile or dashcam footage to come forward. Local authorities also increased patrols in the area to reassure the community following the attack.
