Hezbollah has formally entered the expanding conflict, launching rockets and missiles toward northern Israel as regional tensions intensify.
The Iran-backed Lebanese armed group said its actions were in response to ongoing Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iranian territory. Israeli defence officials confirmed that multiple projectiles were fired from southern Lebanon, triggering air raid sirens across several northern communities. Interception systems were activated, though authorities reported damage in some areas.
The development marks a significant escalation, opening an additional front in the already widening confrontation. Cross-border exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah had previously remained limited, but the latest barrage signals deeper involvement by the group.
Israeli officials warned of a strong response, stating that any sustained attacks from Lebanon would be met with force. Analysts say Hezbollah’s entry increases the risk of a broader regional war, particularly given its substantial missile arsenal and its close coordination with Tehran. With fighting now spanning multiple territories, concerns are mounting over further destabilisation across the Middle East.
